Move to Granite Shoals, TX

Granite Shoals sits on the shore of Lake LBJ, about 7 miles west of Marble Falls in southwestern Burnet County. Incorporated in 1966 and named for the actual granite shoals visible in the Colorado River before Wirtz Dam formed Lake LBJ, it’s the largest population center directly on the lake, and, unusually for a lake town, it’s genuinely built for public access to the water, not just private waterfront lots.

A “City of Parks,” Literally

Granite Shoals brands itself the “City of Parks,” and it holds up: the city maintains 19 public parks, 8 of them with boat ramps onto Lake LBJ. That’s more public lake access than any other town on the lake. If you don’t want to pay for a private dock but still want to get on the water regularly, that’s a real, practical reason to look here over some of the more exclusively-private communities nearby.

Neighborhoods

Established neighborhoods in Granite Shoals include Castle Hills, Greencastle, Live Oak, and Beaver Island, a mix of lake-view and interior lots, generally at a lower price point than the gated resort communities in neighboring Horseshoe Bay.

Highland Lakes Elementary School, part of Marble Falls Independent School District, sits inside Granite Shoals city limits.

Location

Granite Shoals is close enough to Horseshoe Bay to use its golf courses and marinas, and close enough to Marble Falls for everyday shopping and dining, without the price premium of living inside either of those two towns.
